Mentoring Project – "Together"
Two hours a week of "Together" can yield incredible results!
"Together" is a Birkat Hashem project providing personal mentoring and tutoring to children from low-income and single-parent families. This project also helps children from broken or dysfunctional homes, and children with learning disabilities whose parents cannot afford private lessons.
What two hours a week can do for these children is beyond description!
This project has brought nothing short of transformation into the hearts of the children. The dedicated mentor, who meets with the child on a regular basis, devotes himself heart and soul to the children's success. The mentor treats him with respect, as an equal, and serves as a safe haven for the child to vent, discuss things, talk about his difficulties and of course - receive tools to help him cope; apart from practical assistance. While the meetings are aimed at improving the child's academic performance, they are by no means limited to that.
The mentoring provides the child with the emotional support he needs to navigate the complex situation he is in. This outpouring of warmth, love, empathy, and genuine listening often eliminates the need for expensive psychological or emotional therapy.
Birkat Hashem's systemic approach, along with the comprehensive and individualized support system it provides for each child, are key elements in ensuring the child's true and continuous progress.
